Accounts Payable & Administrative Assistant
PAY: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour
JOB TYPE: Full-time

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Accounts Payable & Administrative Assistant is a key member of H.O.M.E.’s finance team, responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payment of organizational expenses and providing administrative support to maintain efficient office operations. This position works closely with the Finance Department and the Executive Director to meet financial and operational goals while supporting staff across departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Time will be split evenly between Accounts Payable and Administrative Assistant responsibilities.
Finance and Accounting
- Receive, record, and process invoices.
- Pay vendors and respond to vendor inquiries.
- Prepare and file sales tax reports.
- Maintain backups and track employee payables.
- Record in-house transfers and crafter liability payments.
- Track vehicle inspections and driver documentation.
- Attend staff meetings and contribute to financial updates.
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
- Perform front desk duties: answering phones, filing, faxing, copying, and scanning.
- Maintain organized records and archives.
- Provide administrative support to ensure efficient office operation.
- Help manage office traffic and serve as the front-line contact for the finance office.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including light office cleaning.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficiency in Peachtree, Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel), and database applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines independently.
- Excellent time management and logical reasoning skills.
- Dependability, self-motivation, and professionalism in the workplace.
- Willingness to learn office management procedures and nonprofit operations.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) up to 75% of the time.
- Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
- Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 15 pounds.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in general office management and bookkeeping, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Experience in poverty related or community service work highly desirable.
